  1. love ur house dude its awsome u think its a one story until u go into a closet looking room wich is really downstairs doesnt look like a basement to me

  2. @matthewrebeck I have no clue to be honest…i found a website that GE and alarm.com have partnered up for it to work however it doesn’t specify to what model. This Simon XT does have the capability in adding on a Cellular Module (therefor no need for land-line) The part number of this module is 600-1048 and runs about $150 to $250. It may or may not work…i would call alarm.com and explain to them about this Alarm and the Cellular Module..I dont see why it shouldn’t work though.

  3. QUICK QUESTION: I dont have a landline, but i have a cell unit provided thru alarm.com Can I still set this up to call thru that cell unit or would that require monthly service?

  4. @elninoloco7 ***When i say “Depending” on the delay that all depends on how long you want to have the delay by programming it..i cant remember the range of it…its around 10 to 30 seconds.)

  5. @GETechHead You get to choose..when you arm your system on the Panel pressing the Doors/Windows button once will have a delay (10 – 30 seconds depending) when you push it AGAIN (Twice) it will arm Instant On.

  6. Quick Question. When you are at home and you arm the doors and windows are all the doors and windows instant or does the front door always have a delay? because some GE systems don’t arm instant for all zones. The front door seems to always have a delay

  7. @mustfa100 Very weird…i have never encountered that problem, the only time that happens is if the panel does not communicate to the phone line itself…i would try disconnecting the phone reprogram the phone option settings (and re program your phone numbers) First, test it without connecting to the phone outlet. Then wait about 10 minutes or so, then connect it the the phone line and retry it…if you still get errors, you could have a defective phone module on the panel.

  8. I got everything working on my alarm, I receive the call on my cell as expected but I don’t receive the same voice instructions you received.
Also, the panel states “system communication failure”. I received the calls which means the communication did not fail. Did you change any setting to avoid this error ??
    Thanks

  9. @elninoloco7 You can purchase monitoring for about $9.00 per month from safemart.com. ($15.00 per month for two way voice). This is a no brainer if you have smoke detectors and CO detectors connected to your panel like I do. you would want your system to call for help in those situations if you couldnt, or if u wanted to use features on ya alarm like Duress codes. I too have the Simon XT… the updated panel)

  10. @clutchone I’d be screwed but I obviously knew what i was getting myself into when i chose this versus paying monthly….(I just can’t afford $20 – $35 a month $240-$420 a year!) Houses has been broken in to while the alarm goes off (Monitored or Not)….its just to scare the bugler….Keep in MIND however, i can still call up ADT, Brinks, etc, and have my CURRENT set-up to be monitored…it has that option available, so when i want get it monitored i already have a system for it.

  11. If you got no monthly bills meaning no alarm center wont 2 way your system or call 911? so whats the point of having it if no one wont call you and the authorties?

  12. This is a great alarm. However, there is a GE Simon XT V2(version 2) out now. This model isn’t produced anymore. Check it out at alarm.com. I got mine from a friend who is a dealer. The potential of the Simon XT is unlocked with an alarm.com cellular chip. If someone cuts your phone line then the system won’t work. Unless you get the cell chip. It now has an app for my iPhone. They have apps for the droid and blackberry too. Fully interactive with home control such as lighting/homeautomation, t
